What happens if you decide you don't want to take the test but you've already registered and everything? are you penalized in any way?

N o p e . . .

"Test and registration fees (including late fees and telephone re-registration fees) cannot be refunded, even if you cancel your test scores or are absent on test day.

Most fees are not refundable. The following fees are refundable only under specific circumstance:

* SAT Question-and-Answer Service (QAS) or SAT Student Answer Service (SAS). These are refundable only if your order has not yet been fulfilled or if you missed your test date (for example, you were absent or you had to take a makeup test).
* Additional score reports that you ordered at the time of registration are refundable only if you are absent.

Refunds are processed beginning six weeks after the test date."

On the score report it will state that you were absent. I personally don't think it's a good thing for college admissions officers to see.

How do you know it will say that? what if you're just sick on test day?

No, it will not. CB just pockets the money and says thanks for the 'donation'. However, you can call CB before or after the test that your registered for, and pay $21 to move your registration to a different test date.

Yea I was scheduled to take it tomorrow, but I had a Speech Meet that wasn't announced until school resumed and I haven't had the opportunity to go to many and I wanted to get the experience so I rescheduled my SAT for May. (Plus a few more months practice can't hurt)
