What is a CRO?

There's this company that does a lot of advertising on my campus to science majors and they are a CRO. I'm just curious what kind of work these CRO's do and whether it is something that is good to do as a new grad. For those of you who have worked at one, do you enjoy the work?

I think CRO stands for Contract Research Organization?

Yes, that’s correct. It’s a company that conducts research (runs studies under contract) for another organization - often a pharmaceutical company or similar. Often the pay is a bit lower and turnover higher at these companies but they can be a good place to gain experience in a research lab, and if you stay for a while you can often move up quickly.
