Hello CCers. My friend doesn't have an account at CC and wants me to write this for him. I will write as "I" instead of saying "he" since I am just copying and pasting what he wrote to me in email.
I am preparing for June SAT.
My current score averages at around 2000~2050, 550~600ish Reading, 650ish writing 10Essay, and 780~800 in math.
For reading, I guess vocab is a problem for me, so I am memorizing Directs Hits and Rocket Revolution. I do reading sections and I seem to not improve..=(
For writing, when I thought I will get 2-3 wrong, I get 6-7 wrongs. During practice sections, I only get 2-3 wrongs with max 4-5 wrongs but can't do well on real tests
I am really aiming for 2300 and it seems like I know why I get things wrong but when I take the test, I get the same score....Did anyone have same problem as me? Please suggest good ways to improve scores. Thank you

p.s. Do you guys think that's a realistic score to achieve in 6 months? I have lots of time since I dun go to schools and have nothing to do other than preparing for 2 AP exams and other minor tests.

Learn 10-20 words a day. Buy Direct Hits Volumes 1 and 2 for that and when you’re done, find more lists. Learn how to read faster. Buy or download the book ‘Triple Your Reading Speed’. Reading faster allows you to read passages in much shorter time and it increases your comprehension. If you manage to triple your speed you can read the passage at least twice before even looking at questions! Answering questions would be a breeze.

For the writing section, pre-write two body paragraphs that can apply to 85% of the prompts. You would be surprised of how easy it is to work in, i.e. ********, the paragraphs into any essay. For grammar, just do a huge amount of problems. Learn the rules from any grammar books, online, or test prep books, and do their problems.

Practice tests: 11 in blue book + 10 online course + 7 over here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1277787-links-additional-official-sat-practice-tests-collegeboard.html . That is 28 real tests in total. You don’t need any more than this. 6 months = 27 weeks. You would think doing one a week until then is the most strategic thing to do, but it isn’t. That’s not the way human’s learn best. Do 1 test in the first month. 2 in the second. 3 in the third. 4 in the fourth. 6 in the fifth. And 12 in the fifth. Do these on saturdays or sundays until the last month where you’ll have to do a few during the week.
