Hello, I am currently a high school junior taking Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra in my high school. My question, is, what would be some of the classes I should consider taking next? I can sign up for dual enrollment colleges at local colleges, but I wasn’t sure which courses to sign up to. Would you guys recommend Complex Analysis and Differential Equations?
Yo! I’ll be in a similar boat, in a year or two!
Analysis and Diff. Equations are both very challenging, but I doubt they’d overwhelm you at this point.
Check out the math department of any colleges you have in mind for dual enrollment. They should have a course list with requirements!
Sign up for classes at your college and see if they have Discrete Math and Cryptology. Those will introduce you to new areas in the field. One semester, I’d add calculus-based statistics/Probability.
Another option is for you to take a proof-based Linear Algebra class, then any class that it was a pre-req for.
Oehr possibilities could include Integral Vector Calculus or Vector Analysis; Combinatorics + Real Analysis. But I’d leave that for when you’re in college, and I’d explore areas of Math and/or take a proof-based math class.
What are you planning to major in?
I would say Differential Equations is next.
Also look at colleges you are interested in and see if they accept these credits.
