What is Cappex? Are their messages genuine?

I created my Cappex account a month or two ago. I didn’t check it until now. And now I have over 173 messages from colleges that want to me to check out their school.

I know that they are not personally typing out the whole message. It is automatically generated based on some criteria, I think.

Are these colleges genuinely interested in me? I mean, am I up to their standards? I did receive a message from University of Notre Dame, Purdue, Vanderbilt, UC Riverside. These are the ones that caught my attention.
I obviously didn’t receive any messages from the Ivies.

Can I trust this and go ahead and apply to some of them? I do have a list of my own, but Notre Dame was not one of them.

Oh, and I also received an email from Cappex that these colleges have asked Cappex to pass on the info about their college to me.

I know that just because they sent me a message does not guarantee an admission in to their college.

It’s advertising. I personally don’t like Cappex and never found it useful. Check out college data, I think it is much better. It’s probably that your stats, as you listed, either fit or exceed the middle 50%. Tens of thousands of students will be getting the same emails. Do not read anything into it.

Thanks.
