What is engineering?... industrial?

what do engineering classes consist of? Is it calculus? physics? Both? something completely different? How do you know if you're "good" at it?

I'm a frosh in college, and I am looking at industrial engineering/also called management science and engineering.... Other threads that scratched this topic said that this major should be avoided and specialized engineering majors such as ChemE and MechE or EE are favored by employers. Would IE engineers earn less money on average compared to other engineers?

It's focused on interactions between systems, and how to create efficient systems. Human factors are a big thing in IE. I would say there's a social science element to it. I don't think it's a real engineering discipline though.

It is definitely a true engineering discipline. Check out the Georgia Tech website #1 in their field. A lot of their grads go on to work for UPS and other major corporations.
