What is everyone writing about in Harvard's optional essay?

Hey, what are you people writing about in the optional additional essay in Harvard's supplement? Just want to get a general overview of the kinds of topics people choose. And does it have to be an essay only? (The last of the examples they gave was a list of books read)

I honestly think that you can do anything you want for the last "essay." Be it a list, narrative, etc.

For mine, I just used my yale/princeton supplement essay which was essentially about the string of events that happened after my best friend came out.

"came out" you mean out of the closet? I wish I had gay/lesbian stories to tell. That wuold be a great diversity point. The fact I'm straight doesn't help either.

^mhmmm i mean "came out" of the closet.

lolzlolz i guess it was fortunate to be able to tell the story... though actually living it wasn't the greatest time of my life.

but i guess all things happen for a reeeaaaasonnnnnn :)

stripperella144, what's your problem? O.o

anyone (who won't steal it) wanna read my essay? i submitted it already though

Re: Bicyclekick..yea ill read it..send it to kelis1986bossy@yahoo.com

bicycle: you realize current high school students (and your competition) are requesting your essay, right? Not necessarily the wisest move you know. Best of luck to you.

don't worry
he's smart enough

bicyclekick - what was your essay about?

good point tho... reminds me of my best friend in China...
He was out when he was 14, I think we were like in 9th grade or so.
I was "automatically" considered gay because of always being with him. (although always sticking with him did have a little affect on my s-preference, but I'm still 80% straight LOL).... and all those things happened to us.... memories....

but I don't think I'll use this as an example for my essay... I'm always sad when I write about this. ;( so the essay won't be good
Instead, I think I'm gonna write about how I refused to join the young communist party and went against it. Woo-Hoo! that was a lot of words!

Note: please disregard my Chin-lish...LOL

my essay was on an influential academic experience and how it awakened me to the inherent decency found in everyone....yeah i wasn't planning on sending it to people applying this year (no offense but $HlT happens)...any people already in college willing to read it?

I have millions of events and stories , that I don't know where to start ...

Ill read it champ
