<p>So, most unis state the box where you say how many years you've been engaged in such activities. However, what is even meant by the word "year" anyway? Does it mean a school season, exactly counting 8765 hours (which correspond to a full year), or just something done constantly from the beginning till end of the school year? I am a bit ignorant on ECs and think sports are too late for me anyway. But I might still have a shot at clubs and community service & volunteering.</p>
<p>In the US system, high school is grades 9 to 12. Thus, an American might list the following activities:</p>
<p>JV Tennis: 9, 10
Gymnastics: 10, 11, 12
Science Club: 12 (2 hrs/wk)
Cinema ticket agent: 12 (10 hrs/wk)</p>
