Someone please help me before i go crazzy.
So on my practice SAT's, I scored avg. 2030 straight. I take the SAT in may, and i completely bombed it getting a terrible 1750, i must have choked... like really bad lol.
So then i take the ACT in June, and i feel a lot more comfortable, and i get a 29 with only about a weeks practice.
Now, i am planning on retaking them both in the fall, and my question is, which one should i study insanely hard for?
The ACT which i feel more comfortable with, and already achieved a high score, with a chance of achieving a more desirable dream score(of around 32) which is only a 3 point increase.
Or the SAT, the test that is more standardized by colleges, yet i have had previous experience choking on, and received a 1750, which would require an increase in around 350 points to meet the equivalent value of a 3 point increase on my ACT of a 32.
I plan on studying hard for these tests, but it would be in my best interest to study for only one exam only, compared to splitting my time for both of them.
Thank you for your help!!
Colleges considering:
Carnegie Mellon University
New York University
George Washington University
Cornell University
RPI
Boston College

All those you list (and colleges generally) readily accept either SAT or ACT without favoring one test over the other except that Boston college takes the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT subject tests. Also be aware that with NYU, you have four different options to meet its test requirements and you can choose any one of the four. You can submit (a) SAT, or (b) ACT, or (c) three SAT subject tests, or (d) three AP tests.

As drubsa stated, Both are weighed and accepted equally. If you feel more comfortable with the ACT then I would focus on that one.
