What is most important?

So I have this paper from my school talking about what’s most important to colleges in applications and I was wondering if this is true, or if it doesn’t apply to most colleges.

So it generally talked about the most important things being SAT/ACT scores, grades throughout high school and class rank.

With extracurricular a, recommendations, etc being further down the chain.

So, is this true? I generally consider myself to be okay with grades (GPA hasn’t fallen below a 3.6) I’ve yet to take the SAT but my PSAT scores have come back with me being in the 95th+ percentile and my class rank is in the 50’s weighted (currently).

I’m hoping so as when it comes to extracurricular I’ve only been in Chinese club from 10 grade on and Model UN/ Student Congress from 11 grade on. (I am an Editor for the school paper though).

So, is this true, and if so, how do you think I look? Any feedback would be appreciated!

GPA and SAT/ACT scores are important for the school because it increases their average applicant GPA/standardized test score statistics. Having a school with a “smarter” student body increases the number of applicants and can boost the school’s rankings. Higher rankings mean more alumni donations. So yes, your GPA and SAT/ACT scores are important for the school. That’s why your extracurriculars and your recommendations are lower in priority. Don’t get me wrong, your extracurriculars are still important. A talented varsity football player can make the school lots of money.
