I respectfully disagee. According to NY Times article listed on this site-Pepperdine 2010 acceptance rate was 30%. Acceptance rate in 2009 was 41% and 34% in 2008. Other rates this year-Colgate 33%, NYU 30%, USC 24%, Berkerly 26%, UNC and Virginia 32%, Barnard 28%, UC Santa Barbara 41%, George Washington 31%. In the new 2011 US News and World Report that has just come out; Pepperdine has improved to #53 among national universities. It is ranked #20 in up and comers, #34 in great schools, great prices (best value). For the first time ever USNWR published high school counselor’s rankings and Pepperdine did even better-ranked #42. The undergraduate business program was ranked 42nd nationally, in the top 10 of western schools listed and only behind Berkerly and USC in California.

The yield this year was 31% which rates favorably with other top schools; Duke 28%, Holy Cross 30%, Northwestern 33%, USC 33%, and Wash U in St Louis 31% to name a few.

One can argue the overall pool of applicants aren’t as strong as they used to be, but compared to past years and other top schools; Pepperdine is statisically significantly stronger and more selective.
