It is my top choice school, and I really want to go there.
I got R 670, M 800, W 730 on November SAT
I will definitely take it again and try to get Reading score greater than 750.

I have 800 for math ii-c, 800 for physics, and 790 for chemistry test.

My gpa is unfortunately significantly low, 3.0 as cumulative. (far from being top 25% of my class)

Furthermore, I got D- for English and C- for history in my sophomore year,
and C+ for English in my junior year.

To list out my AP courses, their grades, and test scores throughout, I took
10: BC Calc - A, 5; Chem - B+, 5
11: Physics C Mechanics for course only and both tests for AP test - A, 5 (I took E&M and Mechanics and got 5 for each); Stats - B or B+, 3

To list out my college-level courses in my senior year, I am taking Game Theory&Formal Logic, AP Computer Science, Multivariable Calculus as independent study, and AP Economics, both macro and micro.

As far as I know, Rose Hulman prioritizes GPA and rigor of school curriculum above all, and is there any chance of me getting into Rose Hulman?

cshsc1945, you are definitely “smart enough” by RHIT’s standard as evident from your scores. However, RHIT places an emphasis on your GPA and class rank because they value work ethics especially strongly. If you read some posts on the Rose-Hulman’s section of the college confidential website, you will hear story of some one being rejected by Rose with an SAT of high 1500s out of 1600 because of his low GPA.

My advice is to really give some explanation of that low GPA and show that you are super committed and responsible for your study in the optional essay section of the application. Demonstrating that you are a good student is very important.

I agree with ccpux, you should definitely try to incorporate an explanation for your poor gpa into your application. Your scores definitely make you a solid candidate though. I’d say if you raise the reading SAT I score you have quite a solid chance.

Hello cshsc1945. I see you have good taste in schools. RH is my top choice as well.
As other people have said, Rose puts emphasis on GPA, curriculum, and class rank more than other aspects. You said your GPA is 3.0, is that weighted or unweighted? I think its a good idea to write that optional essay about your current GPA stats. If Rose sees potential in you, I don’t see how they can’t accept you. There is also the possibility of being wait listed, and I hear people who are that position have a good chance of being later accepted.
Don’t give up hope yet! I hope you already sent in or are in the process of sending your application already. Rose will see your interest in the school if you apply quite early.
