What is score cancellation?

Hey everyone,

I was just looking at the college board website today after bombing an AP exam, and I read about this thing called score cancellation. Could someone elaborate about what that is?

It says:
"Score cancellation deletes an AP Exam score permanently from your records. Scores may be canceled at any time. However, for scores not to appear on the current year's score report, AP services must receive a signed, written request by mail or fax by June 15."

So does that mean I can cancel a score after I receive it in July (I'm a junior) and it will not appear when I send it to colleges? If so, will the score be permanently deleted: I'm trying to be an AP scholar, and let's say I get a 5,4, and a 2. If I delete my score of 2 after I get my results back, will it just say on the letter I get this year that I got a 2, but when I apply for the AP scholar award and for my colleges the following year, that 2 will be deleted?

Thank y'all

Yes - it will be gone. You probably shouldn’t cancel imo, though - you can always call later and request that a college not receive a certain score in your score report that you send to them, and chances are you didn’t do as terribly as you thought. I thought I got about a 2 on Physics B last year, ended up with a 4. Didn’t do two entire FRQs (and bs’ed the other three or something), including the one that was worth the most points.
