Harvard is the key to every door.

Harvard has tons of great departments and scholars and 3,500 courses compared to say amherst which has 800. You have neat programs like History and Literature there and all sorts of resources. That kind of thing.

the name.. duh!

Why is the Sun so grand? All the planets just happen to revolve around it.

Why is the US the most powerful nation on earth? They just happen to have military might and iron economy, that's all.

Why is being a human so grand? What's so grand about having the ability to think logically and use tools?

hehe...sorry if i sound condesceinding.

Then Harvard is also the key to the back door?

I've heard that Harvard also has an undergrad school. Is that true?

lol

Uh, you mean a college? Yes. Harvard is both a college and a set of graduate schools... Does that answer your question, or do you mean something else?

Or is this a joke I haven't picked up on yet...?

Oui..............

Oh well. At least I can spell "kaleidescope." JK, I'm all for alternate spellings. ;)

sunglasses -- you mean kaleidoscope?

Haha, no I mean "kaleidescope." I committed the same atrocity as you--I presumed that the poster "kalidescope" was wrong in spelling, but it turns out there are many, many alternate spellings of the word (one of which is my "kaleidescope").

But, thisyearsgirl, you are right: "kaleidoscope" is the most apt spelling of them all. So sad how we've all given up on spelling.

hey sunglasses, you go to harvard right? So tell us, what is so great about this school that is supposedly only for deities?

Why the rudeness? Let's be mature, please...

Seth blue--

No, I don't go to Harvard--I was accepted EA and will attend next year.

...But my advice to you: If you don't think Harvard is a great school, then that is your right...but think about this--if it isn't an institution of some substance, then why are you bothering to post over and over again on this message board?

Why do people think i dislike Havard? I am actually fascinated by it. And seriously, I meant what i asked: What seperates harvard from the rest of the flock?(besides the great professors and all). I don't know a lot about harvard other than the fact that it has an extrmely good reputation. Besides, i'm only a sophomore, so i'm not really comparing universities yet. In my opinion, hyps and ivies are all amazing. And sunglasses, i think the fact that you were accepted into harvard is amazing too.

sorry if the way I worded my sentence was bad.

I like Harvard's big name, but the school got nothing special.
You know how famous Harvard is in China?
If I asked high school students in China that if Harvard accepted you but you have no choice on your concentration/major, will you still attend the school?
The answer will be YES from 95 out of 100 people.

I was just making a joke about Harvard's perceived neglect of undergrads with all their emphasis on the big fish in the grad schools. Looking through the Harvard Forum a very disproportionate amount of the discussion seems to involve issues mainly relevent to the grad schools...I simply had no idea the name-police were monitoring the boards for delinquent undergrad spellers. lol

ah the chinese community...to be accepted to harvard is to become God

So my chinese school wants me to do a presentation on how and why i got in.

So what's so grand about harvard? It's tops in everything.

Sure it's not number one in everything, and i might just goto wharton, but it's tops in everything. Penn can claim wharton, but their college is.. well, yeah. Similar things can be said about many of the other schools. Try going to Gatech for psychology, or better yet, Georgetown for Engineering...

To the average world citizen, harvard represents everything... and while the name opens doors, the experience of being surrounded by intelligent people of all trades is the life time experience well worth the trouble of these last few years of hell.
