What is the best college that I have a chance of getting accepted into?

Weighted/Unweighted GPA: 4.29/4.0
ACT Composite: 32

I took 7 AP classes- Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, and Environmental Science.

Extracurriculars: 4 years of Varsity Cross Country, 4 years of running with the indoor track club, 4 years of Varsity Track & Field, 3 years of Student Government, 2 years of National Honor's Society, 1 year of Key Club

During the summer, I volunteered abroad in the Dominican Republic for 10 days with Global Leadership Adventures and helped to build schools and hospitals for the locals. I also attended a 10 day engineering summer camp at the University of Michigan where I stayed in the dorms at U of M and explored a major in engineering by attending engineering classes and working on engineering design projects.

I LOVE math and science, and I am interested in studying engineering - either biomedical or chemical.

If location and tuition were not factors, what types of colleges could I get accepted into?

Georgia Tech, UIUC, Carnegie Mellon, Purdue would all be possibilities.

Please define what you mean by “best.”

@Ival524 - did you take the AP exams for those classes? If so, how did you do?

You seem like the type of candidate who could get in anywhere as long as your application, essays, recommendations, and interview are strong and help distinguish you from the masses. HYPSM will be long shots, but schools a step down from them should be possible Apply to a wide range of schools, put in your best applications to all of them, and see what comes from it.

Location really kind of is a factor for instate schools. Even for some private. Where do you live?

If you live in California, Berkeley and UCLA. North Carolina, UNC. Virginia, UVA and W&M. Otherwise, I can see you getting into them OOS, but it will not be easy. I’d say you’re probably in at UMich.

Wake Forest is a good school, but your ACT would be on the high side. Carnegie Mellon, as a another mentioned would be a possibility. Your ACT would put you in the 35%ish for accepted applicants at Northwestern.

Are any of your ECs leadership positions? I think that might be what will hold you back.
