im currently a sophomore and i want to make sure i spend my summer wisely. im thinking of volunteering for about 21 days in somewhere like india . any ideas on what summer programs would look the best on college apps??

Cornell summer program if you can swing it financially. Cutoff is either late Jan or early Feb.
My D earned a 4.2 GPA on ten credits over 2 summers and it helped her get in there but she declined for a BA/MD. I think a good research project or Siemens Science would look better than India.

In the A is for Admission book, Hernandez stated that the Ivies have seen so many trips to third worlds that they now don’t pay much mind to them anymore unless your going to do something big like bring water to a town, or set up a real charity and generate thousands of dollars for them. Get her book from your public library to save money. All Yale kept asking my daughter about was Siemens Science but she went to a semi-rural school with no support to participate. Good luck.
