Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to visit MIT yet, in addition to other schools. One of the most important aspects of a school to me is the culture of the place. Does anyone know what the overall student body culture and school is like at MIT?

That’s a really big question, and it will help people to answer if you can narrow it down a little.

In the interim, the MIT admissions blogs are a great way to dip your toe into the water that is MIT, and there’s a whole category on student life and culture: [MIT Admissions: Student Life & Culture - Complete Blog Archives](http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/life/student_life_culture/completearchive.shtml)

I probably should have been a bit more specific. Are people very competitive (cutthroat) at MIT?

One of Mollie’s best blog posts sums it up perfectly- [MIT Admissions | Blog Entry: “Who we are”](http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/pulse/mits_mission_who_we_are/who_we_are.shtml)
