What is the difference between Digital Arts and Graphic Design?

We are visiting Friday, arranged a tour with the Arts department, just curious. My junior DD is looking at both of those programs

So a basic answer but…

Digital art uses computers and other digital media to convey art and/or tell stories. Think animation, game design, compter drawing, video and photography. Graphic Design uses text and images in combinations to convey a message. Think advertising, packaging, magazine design.

My DD has been accepted at VCU and Virginia Tech and will be studying digital art at whichever school she chooses to go. Both VCU’s Kinteic Imaging and Tech’s Creative Tech programs offer her the blend of art and technology she is looking for.
