Hi, I am from California and I do not know a lot about admissions for the boarding schools in New England. Any answers on my likelihood of getting in, advice, or opinions are appreciated. Thanks!
Currently, I am attending a private school and am in 8th grade. My ethnicity is Chinese and I was born in California. Also, I am not applying for financial aid and I have a younger brother. I will be applying for boarding since I am from California.
I am bilingual, speaking Chinese and English at home. I am learning Spanish (since kindergarten) and French (about a year or more).
First of all, I am a motivated person who is eager to learn but I do not believe only learning academics. I value important traits such as teamwork and am an active volleyball player. I do not enjoy strictly learning, I am a person who learns through creativity and discussion. My favorite subjects include writing, math, Spanish, and volleyball.
My contribution and accomplishments: If I were to attend Andover or Exeter, I would contribute to the student experience because I like to think that I am a pretty happy and optimistic person. I also take pride in schools I attend and feel that my school spirit is something I can contribute.
Community Service: I have also participated and still participate in community service, with and without my school elective. I have been doing this since 6th grade.
This includes: Humane Society, Reese’s Retreat, Shane’s Inspiration, Service Day (my school), Volunteer at Head Start (elective at my school).
I am playing piano, cello, and I paint with acrylic. I have painted since I was four and played piano since I was three (I am fourteen now).

For the ISEE: I am taking the ISEE on January 7th. I have taken it before, and did not do as well as I expected. However, I have taken countless practice tests and studied much more since my last test. The results on my practice tests are about 7s (not as prominent as 8s), 8s, 9s(sometimes). I hope that my actual ISEE test will mirror how I do on practice tests.
Volleyball: I play club for about two years now, I am in 14 and under regionals division. I also play for on varsity for my current school and participate in high jump for track and field. I am on varsity tennis. However, I am really not that good at tennis and made the team as an alternate(which I am glad for because now I can play tennis.) I have played for doubles.
Grades:
I have 4.0 GPA for the first semester of 8th grade. My GPA estimation for second quarter is 3.7.
