What is the point of all these "Chance-Me" treads?

Am I missing something or all these "Chance-Me" threads silly. You can just plug your GPA and SAT scores into Naviance and it will tell you your chances based on kids from ones school - or look at the USNWR or the common data set. And can anyone from CC really provide much more?

People who’ve experienced the admissions process can probably tell you more than you’ll ever learn from a common data set or a graph with green and red shapes.

Most schools don’t have Naviance.

I suppose you can use the common data set but it really doesn’t give you a perfect analysis, plus you can’t really get good information on more subjective aspects of the application, like extracurriculars.

Schools must pay for Naviance so not everyone has that luxury.

One can look at the common data set or reported stats averages, but that doesn’t mean one will accurately understand it. For example, many people think that SAT scores in the 50th or even near 25th percentile still gives them a good shot at a college, which isn’t true.

I’m glad finally someone said this.
Here’s something…
