what is the point of aps in senior year?

i am taking 3 aps sophomore year, about 7 junior year, and about 6 senior year
but what is the point of taking those ap courses senior year if they don't even matter [meaning colleges only look at the ones you take freshman-junior year]?
and your gpa is calculated by the beginning of senior year, so why should one even take aps senior year?

Hopefully, you aren't driving everything you do in high school, just based on how colleges will look at it. D is taking almost all APs mostly because she wouldn't have been challenged in non-AP level classes, and because her future school will give her placement AND credit, meaning that she'll probably have about 50 hours of college credit even before she starts school there. Although this means she could probably easily graduate in 3 yrs (or less), she'll probably more likely be able to take less coursework per semester, take a broader range of classes she's interested in, rather than being driven by requirements, and study abroad at least one semester.

Colleges still want to see that you're taking the most rigorous courseload, and so they do see your senior courses. In addition, many top colleges want midyear reports, so that's important too.

Two reasons:
So you can opt out of college intro classes.
To go deeper into a subject you're interested in.

Colleges look at Soph-Junior years and 1st semester of Senior year. Schools might send out some supplemental questions asking for your senior level grades and so on. 1/10 colleges look at you're freshman year grades, if I am correct HYP does not check freshmen year and none of the UCS check it. Again, what everyone else said on this thread, colleges love to see you challenge yourself. Schools also like to see you have 4-5 academic classes throughout senior year.

^^ UCs (and probably HYPS too) do look at freshman grades, but don't use it to calculate GPA.

thanks a lot for your advice guys
