What is the probability that I will get in??

amb3r : Indian Grading is different. He has absolutely no Cs according to the Indian system.

Well, I’m an American, not an international student, if that’s what you mean.. at least in schools in the northeast it would be looked down upon.

How does Indian grading work?

75-100 = A mostly. Not surprising considering that an student in Indian Curriculum has a lot more on his plate than his/her american counterpart.

OK. Lets get going!! Everyone seems to misunderstand me and think everything about me is contrived. :frowning: Well, I have 3 reviews by three different professors from well-to-do, recognized univs here. And I am no Carnegie Hall musician. I do music as a hobby. I do photography too. They are just hobbies. I just mentioned all my activities. Obviously they are not my key points to be stressed upon as reasons why I took a gap year. I took a gap year only and only because I wanted to do some stuff with fuzzy logic and game theory. I know its complicated and all. But (no bragging) I love doing it and I will keep doing it without any professor’s help, whatsoever. Obviously I worried about the validation thing and got it reviewed by profs, who have said that it was a “very brave effort … good enough for a kid of my age” And thats about it. There’s no make-belief. I ain’t gonna force it in my college essays with a title saying “I’m Lovin’ It!!!” Why the heck don’t people understand that I ain’t a ■■■■■ and am not faking anything???

And btw “ain’t” is a legitimate short-from of am not. It doesn’t have USA written over it.

Oh and I am just learning French. Its sort of a certificate course from a very, very reputed world-wide organization.

Yuppeee and MIT just confirmed that my research work doesn’t have to published. They just need a supplemental letter of rec from a prof!!! Relieved!

I hope colleges verify things stated on your application and your claimed work. Good Luck!

And that means you still believe I am a ■■■■■ or something … :(

it doesn’t matter what we think

adrivit, I think what matters the most is how you present your achievements on the application, not necessarily what you have achieved and how many titles you’ve won. You can use an essay or a rec, or send the abstract of your paper to colleges, or whatever you think will be useful. It’s not possible to explain everything here within a few posts; we know that ;). It seems to me that you have an interesting life, if everything you’ve said is true :). What matters now is how you’ll communicate these details to adcoms.

Yeah right!! Thanks!!

One more thing - don’t spread yourself too thin on apps. I mean, leave out all those tiny, inconsequential activities…including every tiny thing that you’ve done over the past 5 years would make you a total resume-padder. So pick and choose wisely, if you get the hang of what I’m saying…

Whether people out here believe you or not shouldn’t be your worry. Whether universities believe your or not is your issue. CC-ers are born sceptics :D.

and corons too :D

What’s a coron?

Well yeah I get ur point. No I certainly am gonna write only what’s writable, not every activity … and really what is a coron??

Its my invention and only Rister knows…

Splendid..

Nobel Prize, anyone??

heh good attempt at humor. Nice.

and was that satirical?? :)

more like sarcastic

ahem ahem … a bit like lashing out at a poor kid, eh??
