What is your motive for pursuing higher education? Are you learning for the sake of knowledge? Do you wish to gain the tools you need to get a decent job? Bottom line are you a college student because you realize that higher education is a wonderful thing? Or are you wasting your parents money and your time partying every weekend and never going to class?

All of the above depending on the day.

sometimes all of the above on a single day.

To get a good job.

sorry to reiterate, but yeah... all of the above.

I'm going to college because I don't want to be flipping burgers or working at Wal Mart for the rest of my life. I'm definitely not partying and wasting my parents' money. We've got an agreement about the grades I get and how much I'll have to pay if I don't earn the grades that I should be earning (that whole living up to potential thing...). Assuming I continue on the path that I'm working on right now (in the process of finally declaring a major) in 4 1/2 years I'll be off to grad school. All of this is so that I can have a real job. Higher education is the only way to get what I want

delay the maturation process indefinitely...........undergrad, grad.......still thinking.

I'm not in college but I'm basically going to pursue my passion, which is Psychology. I love to help people and I love to learn about how the human mind works, why we do what we do and things of that nature.
I've never imagined myself NOT going to college, even when I was in kindergarden. I've always wanted some kind of job that would require me to attend college.
It's mostly to get the job I want because you can't become a Psychologist if you JUST have a Bachelor's degree and the money isn't bad.

As a masochist, I want to kill myself with studying. What could possibly be more fun than four years in the bowels of the library? :)

But, really, I want a good education. I want to be able to think on my feet well. Finding a good job is not a factor, but, naturally, becoming smart will have an effect on what sort of job I will receive.

Honestly...I want a job that pays me good money. It's just something I have to do. Not that I don't love learning (which I really honestly do) but that's the main reason. SHOW ME DA MONEY!

I'm definitely not gonna bewasting my parents money... my parents aren't giving me any money for college.

But yeah... I have ambitious future plans... none of which will ever come to fruition without a college education.

Just something to do.

Something to consider. As they say in the movie Orange County, "'Cuz that's what you do after high school!"

Honestly, I'm in college because it has always been my dream and my parents have always pushed me to go. All those years in school have made me like knowledge and education more and more. Now I can honestly say I'm here for the sake of knowledge. I believe if you aggressively pursue what you love, you shouldn't have to worry about money or a good job.

I went to college for the T3s in the dorms.

I value my education. Seriously. To not be modest here, I simply just don't want to be an ordinary person. I want to become who I really am and live that instead of losing myself in the party crowd. Not that I hate partying by any means of course.

I want to be able to have the tools to start a career in something that I am interested in and passionate about, so i have my career in mind definitely. I'm also in it because i believe there is a lot of personal growth that will happen during college.

I want to make major money so I can have horses for the rest of my life and never be dependant on anyone for money.

It depends on the person. I am going so I can fulfill my dream of becoming a surgeon at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, to meet some new people, and to have a little fun. In moderation, of course.

I'm going to college because there are things that I'm dying to learn--nerdy as it sounds. I want to fulfill my aspirations as a veterinarian and I want to really get into chemistry and biology; I want to research and study abroad... I really do want to go to college for myself above anything else. I can honestly say I enjoy learning and discovery, particularly in the sciences.

College is also going to be my transition into the real world... breaking away, so-to-speak. But that's more of a side-benefit, along with everything else that comes with college (friends, the parties, etc).
