I have tried to look at the admitted students thread to see what type of scores they have to figure out what type of scores students need for the Honors program and for merit aid at Tulane, but most people did not post their scores. My daughter has a total of a 2060 right now (690v, 650m, 720e) with about a 4.0 weighted GPA (lots of honors and AP courses--the school does not have grade inflation). How would she stand with that?

Probably a bit too low. I think the general cutoff is 2150, with some exceptions below that if grades are very high. But by very high I mean more like 3.8 unweighted, with lots of AP’s. But no worries. She can still take many of the honors classes and earn her way in by making a 3.6 freshman year. I think the only honors class that would be completely closed to her freshman year would be the colloquium course.

Thanks for your reply. What about merit money? Would she be in the running for anything?

Yes, I believe so. Of course it is always hard to predict what the applicant pool will be like next year (I am assuming she is a junior and applying for the class of 2015), but based on today’s info, she would very likely get an offer. I hesitate to predict which level she would be likely to recieve though, that is beyond my pay grade.

Yes, she is a junior. We are just trying to decide where it make sense for her to apply. Thanks.

Unless they change it, Tulane is a free app, so I would encourage her to apply and see what she gets. She will certainly be accepted.
