omg i dont need your patronizing...it wouldve been alot shorter if u just type up the word limit instead putting that up.

yes i did "search" and the box allows for 6000 characters but i was afraid that it would be too long.

if ur gonna post try to help instead of being a prick

Hah, Karl lol

Blah, what Karl meant in his own very very special way is that the exact answer is somewhere (or actually, multiple somewheres) in this very thread, and if you hunt it out [my tip is to start w/ AdmissionsDaniel] , he'll give you a cookie! <3

The JHU thread is just kind of picky about repeat questions, that's all Blah.

(my comment's not meant to be patronizing either, I just wanted to lighten things up?)

200-600 words for short
800-1000 for long
somewhere in that range...but don't realyl bother i think my long essay was longer than or almost close to 1000

Goodness, I sure hope it isn't 800-1000, dark hope. I could have sworn I read 500-1000 from Admissions Daniel for the 'free day'

All right fine.....
it's 500-1000 for the money
250-500 for the class
and it would have been easier to search and me not to type
now Karl is grumpy and wants some food and toys

it doesn;t matter how long the essays are it can be anyway you want it...its really flexible gl!

=/ sorry i guess i forgot then but yea...the range doesn;t really matter

damm, my "money is pocket" essay is 218 words, and i seriously cannot think of what else to write, i hope thats fine!!@#$%

I can give you a cookie! xP

My money in the pocket essay was 1150 words
My class essay was 836 words.

And honestly, they don't care as long as you expressed yourself properly.

i just finished my app lol...anyway, i'm sorry if i sound like a female dog but i guess it was just the stress of college apps.

thx for ur help

Oh, poor Admissions Daniel! =D

The funny thing (SAD?) is the first thread on this JHU forum (an IMPORTANT THREAD in fact) is titled "2006-07 Essay Policy Explained". And almost every question about the essays are answered on that "sticky" thread, including about word counts:

"For the JHU essays there are no official word limits or word count suggestions. The first essay ("money in your pocket") is traditionally between 750 - 1000 words when written. Remember you can present this essay in any format, using any medium, you want. The second academic essay ("favorite class") is typically shorter and runs between 250-500 words. But as with the first essay, it is your choice how long / how short you want your essays to be."

Finally, one suggestion. Let me be the one to remind people to use the search functions -- otherwise you all begin to treat each other a bit rudely, which is totally uncalled for.

so its cool if we just make them more "short answer" than "organized essay"?

The JHU essays are not supposed to be considered short answer questions -- they are essays. You can write what ever you choose, but we are not looking for one paragraph brief answers.
