I know the topic is somewhat vague, but I'm travelling to London next week and I'm currently planning my itinerary. I'll be staying at Hyde Park, so does anyone have any good sightseeing suggestions?

Also, any good restaurants that aren't too expensive?

The Tower of London was creepy. Tower Bridge just as creepy. Harrods is expensive. Piccadilly Circus was interesting. GO TO SEGA WORLD! Take one of those boat tours on the Thames to Greenwich and you can take a picture standing on the Prime Meridian. When I was there we just ate in Chinatown and mainstream American resturants like KFC.

I went there when I was 10 and 12 and I did not appreciate it back then. And it was in March that we went. I think Hyde Park was close to Buckinham Palace. For traveling use the Underground instead of relying on taxi. The gift shops have a lot of horny stuff. You MUST visit the Covent Garden. Don't waste time trying to get in the Houses of Parliment or Big Ben, just walk by there. We took the boat on Thames to the Kew Gardens and that was boring, unless your mom likes that stuff.

Dude, London is awesome! I went there for a school trip sophomore year and had a blast. Covent Gardens is a definite must and so is Piccadilly Circus. Harrod's is cool too, but all I bought was tea, haha. Go on one of those double decker buses, check out St. Paul's cathedral, and just walk... walk everywhere! There is a lot to see when you walk, especially if you have no particular place to go. But if you do need to get somewhere specific, take the Underground, oh, and "mind the gap." :-)

If you happen to go anywhere outside of London, check out Oxford, York, and Stratford (if you're into Shakespeare). Stonehenge was a disappointment since all you get to do is walk on a roped off path and listen to some headphones. It didn't seem worth it especially when you've got the smart tourists taking the same pictures from outside of the fence. :-) Windsor castle is really cool too and we happened to have been there when the Queen's flag was up. Make sure you take a picture w/ one of the guards w/ the big hats.

Watch when you cross the street because London drivers are crazy. However, I like how there aren't really any rules regarding j-walking or anything like that. Just make sure you don't get hit by their cute little cars. Oh! and don't forget, they drive on the "wrong" side of the road, haha.

London is awesome! I've been there three times, including once this past summer. First of all, the Underground is definitely the best way to get around-- it is inexpensive and can take you anywhere. I suggest the Tower of London for sightseeing-- if you are interested in British history. I also went on the London's Eye ferris wheel which was great for a panoramic view of London. I went during the day, but I heard that it is beautiful to see the city at night-- I think that they have night rides. And of course you need to see Buckingham Palace. When we went, it was too late to buy a ticket for the tour, so I don't know how it is. When you go, plan to go during the changing of the guard. And you need to go to Speaker's Corner in Hyde Park. It was incredibly interesting to listen to the numerous speakers speak so passionately and stir up the crowd. I could have stayed there for hours.
The food in London was nothing special. It was hard to find a good restaurant. Have a great time! :)
