I have just applied early decision to Vanderbilt and have high hopes that I will get in (I fall in the range for ACT scores and GPA). Its obviously my first choice school, but as any student might, I am getting nervous that I may have made the wrong decision. From my research, Vanderbilt seems like the place for me. What are the best/worst things about the school, and is Greek really the way to go.

Best Thing: If you’re in the CAS, crafty and a decent writer, you can design your own major

Worst Thing: Diversity is getting better, but is still limited

Greek Life: I could neither encourage nor discourage someone from going greek because it’s really just a matter of preference. You’ll probably know a month or two into the Fall semester whether greek life is or is not for you. The only weird thing I’ve noticed is that if you’re an attractive girl and you don’t rush, some people will subtly/casually inquire as to why you didn’t rush as if rushing is the default thing to do for attractive girls.

That depends on what you’re interested in.

Community service is pretty big here, as is Greek Life. But then, there’s lots of other sub-communities if you’re looking for a particular niche.

If you’ve looked into Vanderbilt and can already tell you’ll like the people here, the only real reason I can see you regretting it is if you decide you want to pursue a career in something that Vanderbilt does not prepare you well for.
