I filled out the free app from willamette without really knowing much about it and I got accepted! But I don't know anything about the school...

If anyone could give me some insight about life at willamette that would be great, cuz i don't know the first thing

So lucky! I wish I were accepted… I sort of doubt I am. Basically Willamette is amazing, it’s in Salem Oregon which is the capital of Oregon but a rather… very small town. The school is right across from I believe the capital building. The school itself is liberal arts to the core with a lot of music going on, it has a great program for that. The campus is really pretty (though I’ve never visited, but the buildings look amazing). there are tons of activities including one rather unique on which is called walapalooza (that is most likely wrong, it’s modeled after lalapalooza in chicago) which is a huge festival where students model art and local bands/ student bands play. Thats just one of the millions of activities offered. If you’re interested in Japanese they have a sister school in Japan (which is my favorite part). I would give a lot to go there, then again I may not be in the same circumstances as you (clearly, seeing as I have yet to get in and you were accepted right away!) Anyway, thats what i’ve got!

thanks gambatte that helped a lot, hope you get in too

I visited the school once, so here’s what I saw:

The campus is beautiful. It’s in Oregon, afterall. I like this campus better than most of the other school’s I’ve visited. It seemed… really clean? Maybe because there seemed to be lots of open space and the ground is rather flat. Flatter than I imagined, anyway.
The location of the school is kinda neato. It’s within biking/walking distance of the mall and has lots of shops around since it’s so close to the capital. I imagined the place to be completely dull… dunno why. I just imagined Salem that way.
I like the atmosphere of the place. Everyone seemed pretty happy and relaxed to be around. Our tour guide said Hi with a smile to multiple people. The community seemed really friendly, including the faculty.

it is friendly open and intellectual. The campus is lovely, students are involved on campus and in the community. If you enjoy outdoor, artsy, environmental and literary activities there is a group on campus that will take you there. I LOVE it and it was in the running for D but she chose closer to home. In addition they give fabulous aid. I will encourage DS to explore WU as well and only hope he has the interest and stats to make it doable.

I’m a freshman at Willamette. A lot of people love this school. It is beautiful and they really take care of you there. The classes are great and small. Personally for me, I find the town of Salem horribly boring and it is causing me to transfer. I’m looking at schools on the east coast (originally from california). I suggest checking the school out and talking to people, most are very friendly. If you’re ever in the area I’ll take you around. Just send me a PM.
