Warcraft 3

wha? u never upgraded to WOW?

THE BEST VIDEOGAME THAT HAS EVER EMBRACED THE WORLD IS XENOGEARS.

I am done with games, but when I played them, I truly loved them.

XENOGEARS for Playstation(original) was just the best VIDEO GAME OVERALL (plot, characters, gameplay).

But man, it took a LONG TIME to finish.

But it was the most BEAUTIFUL GAME THAT HAD EVER EXISTED.

I am not being subjective. It's a fact! Until one plays it then will you understand its beauty.

It had a LOT of reading in the video game. You truly were reading a book rather than playing a game.

Amazing. Kudos to Squaresoft for the most monumental video game ever created.

Xenogears sucks. Its an okay story, but an AWFUL game. Its everything a game should not be--overly long, overly dramatic, and overly lame. The fact that the music is subpar and the graphics suck only add to the lousiness of the entire package.

That being said, the best video game of all time bar none is Kirby Superstar. Superb multiplayer, superb single player, not too long but not too short, appealing to all ages, perfect control, great soundtrack. I don't regret the $65 I plopped down for the SNES cart when I bought it oh so long ago from Fedco (over Zelda A Link to the Past, for that matter).

There's plenty of great games, but here's a short summary of the "best games EVAR" by genre:

FPS: Doom 1/2/Final Doom: To this day the MP kicks ass. Great music, control, weapons, blah!

Strategy: Starcraft: I suck at this game awfully, but I love it anyway. Koreans kill themselves over trying to master this game.

RPG: Mother (Earthbound 0): This game is beautiful, even to this day. Sure, there's a gazillion "must-play" RPGs, but those are misnomers, this game is the true definition of "Role-playing-game"

Action/platformer: Castlevania 4/Super Ghouls and Ghosts: I love both of these games very much, they're second in line only to Kirby Superstar itself. Genious.

2-d Fighter: Garou Mark of the Wolves: Great Graphics, the return of Terry Bogard, Rock Howard, deep system, great music, highly competetive. Guilty Gear XX is really good also, but I like SNK for being its grungy self. 2-d fighters are a great genre, they've really mastered themselves since the days of SF2.

3-d Fighter: Virtua Fighter 4 Evo: Deep, competetive, and very very stiff. This genre has ways to go, but there's no questioning that this is a very good game.

Shmups: Radiant Silvergun: Superb (Man, this word is getting old). It's worth every bit of the 200 dollars you would have to plop down to get a new copy. It's worth buying an entire Sega Saturn set over. This game is THAT good.

Puzzle: Super Puzzle Fighter 2x: Its bouncy, jumpy, and lovely. I've yet to play Puyo Puyo Fever though, that is supposed to blow this game out of the water.

I should stop now, I'm getting giddy.

I'm absolutely invincible at these SNES sports games:

Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run (I spent an entire summer once in middle school creating a fantasy baseball team with this game, and playing a full 162-game season)
NBA Hangtime (watch OUT)
Madden 92 (haha this game is the epitome of retarded sports games)

And I still find the time to play Starcraft nearly every day. I also kick major ass at Hearts, Solitaire, Minesweeper, and Space Cadet Pinball.

What can I say, I'm just an old skool kind of guy

What about that one DOom where you kill the Nazis that ones tight.
You cant forget Diablo 2 expansion!

Ultamate favorite: Chrono Trigger
also a few others... Earthbound, Secret of Mana, SSBM, Unreal Tournament

Diablo 2 is great, especially on battle.net, but all the dupes and bots ruined it.
Basically anything made by Blizzard deserves to be named the best.

Street Fighters, Mario, Sonic, Halo and Counter Strike.

The last time I enjoyed playing video games was last year..lol

Half Life 1, Age of Empires 2, and Resident Evil are all great

mvp 2005.....'nuff said

JimmyEatWorld, you play NBA Hangtime for SNES? That is the best basketball game ever!
