Nobody's ever heard of us, but our students have come in top on a variety of national and international competitions. Also, everybody in this year's class who took the SAT I's got 800 in math or CR, which will probably end up on the school's brochures.

JBVirtuoso, yeah that's us :(. Chopped off the guy's head in his garage and then threw it into the river and left the body in the garage. Then he came to school the next day like nothing happened.

I live relatively close to Detroit, so it was a big story here. It's really horrible. But I'm sure that there have been other instances like that in a school/park that large.

Hey, question for those of you in public schools:

In your area, do you get to choose which high school to go to, or do you get districted to a specific one? My county does the latter, but I don't know which way is more common.

For being constantly being misunderstood, erroneously labeled a "vocational" school, and for having racism applied toward.

You are assigned a school, I had to apply to my school though.

Marlon Brando went/dropped out of my hs, and Tom Morello went here too!

Also we are the first school in the country that can punish you for doing stupid **** on facebook or myspace, we were on cnn....

we had an article on valentine's day with a diagram of a vag*** on the front page of our school newspaper haha
we were known in the east coast and were on their newspapers
everybody went nuts when they found out XD

We can choose our public school because they all have different programs but you have to be in the area they deserve. Exemple, my school is primarily for the West part of the city, but students from all over the city can apply. Though now, our teachers say it's quite dificult to get in if you're not in the West.

We get assigned a school based on area. Of course, the school district I'm in is for a group of five suburban cities (suburbs of Detroit) and has two high schools that are basically the same (or so outsiders think).

In the school district itself, the school I go to has a reputation as the better high school. So we're kinda famous (in the area) in that way.

@romani--I had actually forgotten about that until now. How long ago was that? (referring to the chopping off of the guy's head)

-Amazing, State Champion Basketball Teams
-Looks like a trailor park
-Is in top 100 schools according to Newsweek

^Yeah, nothing really that special.

Within the county, you are assigned to a local school, your home school, but you can apply to a magnet program at another school. Some programs are regional (must live north/south of county divider lines) but others like mine are countywide since its the only school in the county with a particular program. My home school is like 2 minutes from my house, while the school I go to is actually 15-20 minutes away. Magnet schools love to threaten to send kids back to their home schools lol

When he was a kid, Jon Bon Jovi attended my high school. He was expelled / asked to leave due to substance possession / abuse. Or something like that.

And... my parish priest (who resides in a different township) knows him personally. Members of Bon Jovi's family attended his surprise birthday party one year lol.

James McGreevey (lol) and Andrew Bynum are also some notable alumni.

srgrl, it was last fall sometime. I don't remember exactly when but it was before Christmas sometime.

We have Steve Bucemi. You know Crazy Eyes from Mr. Deeds?

We also have Stephen Boyd.

We were on MTV Made twice and I think on that MTV High School thing...

^ I wish my school was that awesome.

What is your high school famous for?

Do slackers count?

I'm almost postitive there are kids in the school that have to take their shoes and socks off so they can count their toes to be able to count to twenty. If their hands and feet where cut off they couldn't count at all.

Well, we have a sweet literary magazine :)

Pregnant chicks.

Gloucester High? O__O
