^That beheading thing was students from your school? I remember that from the news. I think it happened in this kid's garage, right? Wow, that must be disturbing.

My school is very small, so it's not very famous nationally. It did win a national award for excellence in 2005, though. A high school with 180 students and a lack of a high-quality student body does not become famous very easily.

lol! WE are THAT high-school in Texas that have the most students in the graduating class. We also have the second biggest graduating class too. haha

My school is known for having the first openly gay and lesbian homecoming king and queen. That's the only newsworthy thing that's ever happened here, lol.

we had a mexican gang fight that was featured on CNN and Good Morning America

we used to have a great Ac Dec team

we are ranked #100 or something

we are 75% mexican so we're called "ghetto garland"

-We're in the top 100 public schools in the US
-Ever heard of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow? Yea... That story was based on here (guess the name of my town).

Locally, we're known for our poor test scores due to the fact that most kids in my school are immigrants and therefore don't speak English. Yet, my district forces them to take tests in English and they get thrown into the test scores with those who DO speak English and thus lower the average of my school.

We're also seen as (one of the) the "vermin" in Westchester, New York (there are about 3 or 4 others schools looked at in the same way). Example.... Most kids in our schools are NOT white, or all that rich.

Example of a dialogue:
Westchester Kid: What school do you go to?
Me: Sleepy Hollow
Westchester Kid: ...Oh...

In Ohio, subgroups are looked at separately. So ESL students will included into the average of the school / district, and they'll be expected to have the same passing rates as everyone else (but only if there's more than 10 of them).

We have a great basketball team here. Not a lot of people like to show school pride, but everyone gets really into it and excited once game day rolls around.

Best football team in the state.

"snobby, rich kids." =[

Kids got busted over FB photos... broadcasted over CNN...

No news really spread out of state, but there was a riot the year before I came, complete with the SWAT team, pretty much the entire police force, and dozens of kids arrested. My school also has had a pretty bad reputation since being graded as an F school by the state a few years ago. We've constantly been a D, but its seemingly impossible to clean up that image.

On a slightly more positive note, we have won quite a few state basketball championships, back to back to back.

In the area, we're one of the most ethnically diverse schools, which I think is cool. :) There are a few schools that are more diverse but less highly-ranked (in terms of test scores and stuff), but we have a good balance of diversity and academic prowess. Wikipedia says that "the student population as of 2007 is 0.1% Native American, 15.6% African-American, 13.3% Asian, 67.8% Caucasian, and 3.1% Hispanic." I don't know how that is compared to other areas, but I think we have a good balance of races.

Also um... the singer from the Cars went to my school? Yeahhh. Found that out a few days ago on Wikipedia, hahaha.

OH, also, there's this girl who graduated last year who's a Paralympic gold-medalist in wheelchair racing. There was some controversy over whether or not she was a legit member of the track team; I think the court case made national news. She also went to my middle school; one time she was invited to some race and totally OWNED all the track stars. She is frickin' AMAZING. She won a bunch of medals in Athens in 2004. O__O

This year, our class is famous among the other schools in our area for having tons of amazing SAT scores, especially this one amazing girl who totally set the bar for the rest of her class. ;]

We have one of the best music program in my province and were the first one to implement a computer program called Infocom, where they learned CISCO and things like that. We had numerous prizes for student entrepreneurship too.

A very popular raconteur graduated from our school 5 or 6 years ago...

We have one of the best (top 10) cheerleading team (7-8th and 9-11th grade) in the province and we were chosen last year to represent the eastern part of Quebec at the Juste Pour Rire festival in improvisation.

Locally, we're the best public school in the region. We're the school where the kids who were rejected or dropped out of private schools go. And we have a rather good program where mentally-disabled teenagers can learn to be independent through task in the schools and gardening.

We're the 3rd best school in the nation by Newsweek, best school in Florida, and best school east of the Mississippi. Also, know as the school where all the students are sad, have no lives, and don't have a high school experiance because it's harder than college.
