It is NOT $6500 in loans per semester if it is the Stafford loan. That’s per year for a sophomore, and will go to $7500 per year for a junior/senior.
It is not clear if you used some of your Pell grant this fall, or if UConn is including the pell grant in the $11k in ‘grants’ for the spring semester.
We’re just advising you to read each line of the financial aid package and know where it comes from (federal government, Uconn, another source). You said all your costs had been covered by grants for your community college, and that could have been Pell grants so you’ve used some of those for this year already.
But you aren’t planning on UConn after this semester anyway, so no need to worry about the future.
Just want to clarify, the award you posted earlier had $6500 in Federal student loan for Spring semester since you didn’t take out any loans for Fall semester and this is the max allowed by law is $6500 per year. So you are saying UCON is going to increase their grant next year to cover any gap in Federal loans?
This is what my whole package looks like for the spring semester but I would only be accepting the student loans and grants.https://postimg.org/image/3lxq4g729/
I have other plans such as waiting to hear back from the other schools I applied to or staying at my CC and transferring later on. Im not asking for suggestions just saying those are some of the things on my list of plans. I can’t just apply to any school. Theres a lot I’m dealing with right now so I think its best I handle this alone.
