What is your political ideology?

Well I’m 17 and I know full well why I support the health care bill. Please don’t go around patronizing teenage posters en masse, especially considering the heightened intelligence level of this forum as a whole. If someone were to take the quiz knowing nothing about the generic label their ideologies fell under, they would be just as likely to be an adult as a 17 year old heading to college. Plus any argument quoting that drunken buffoon immediately loses credibility.

There must be a reason why Churchill said 25 instead of 18; what kind of a position are 18 year olds in to determine their political ideology? Did any of you know the magnitudes of your leftnesses or rightnesses prior to the taking of the quiz? That’s why it bothers me so much when bonehead 17 year olds are such staunch opponents of something like the health care bill (an item that I believe to contain both merits and faults): they don’t really know why they oppose it, they just do.

<p>Yeah, it ticks me off too. Most kids just repeat what they heard their dads say or watched O’Reilly with them. We are in High School, we barely have any experience in the real world. I work two jobs and pay for most things on my own, etc… but that is way different than being 25-30+ and truly being on your own, paying taxes, rent, a real job(if you can find one), etc…</p>

<p>Most kids, when left to their own devices, are liberal (for the most part IMO. Look at the results of this thread, most people are pretty liberal). When the parents get to them, a lot of them think they are conservative (well they are Republicans, so most of them aren’t real conservatives, but that’s another story). Of course some parents steer their kids toward to the left, but it seems more get pushed right. </p>

<p>Granted, I’m an outlier to this, my mom pushed me to being slightly liberal, but I kind of became a conservative on my own without pops, Rush or O’Reilly. Granted readings by von Mises, Friedrich Hayek and Ron Paul influenced me quite a bit, but that was my own choice. </p>

<p>oh well, it doesn’t really matter. I’m afraid we won’t have a choice in the relatively short future, we’re going to have a libertarian style of government.</p>

<p>Well, I oppose the Health care bill because it validates (further) doctors who profit off of poisoning people just enough so they can heal them and make a small fortune off of it. It also places a tax on life, which is something I also don’t like.</p>

<p>Personally, I’d like to be in charge of my own health, and keep that out of the hands of doctors.</p>
