What is your roommate like?

My roommate is Russian, is like 6' 2", rarely talks, plays Anarchy Online all the time and is depressing in general. He's also very stubborn, difficult to have conversations with and is paranoid with his belongings. Does anybody know these types? I can't stand him.

What are your roommates like? Are you happy and how do you manage to get along?

i shared a room with the same girl soph and junior year, and senior year we still lived in the same apt but got our own rooms. that was the one year she drove me crazy. i honestly don't know how i made it through the other two years without going nuts. i started sleeping at friends houses more often than i slept at my own apartment because i couldn't stand being there with her - and we didn't even share a room anymore!

all of my other roommates were fine and we got along great.. it's just that one that managed to wreck things for all of us.

I'm a freshman my roommate and I have the same birthday (lol which was a little weird), and we get along very well, in fact we haven't had one arguement for the whole year. I was really lucky...

Well I started with three roommates and am down to one, since we were (thankfully) able to get the built up lounge we were in first semester broken down about 2 weeks into this semester. I'm a freshman.
Roommate # 1. Not bad, but slept forever on the weekends. Not unusual for her to sleep until 2 in the afternoon. Drove me nuts, since I had homework to do, but she'd get ticked if she got woken up. Most of the rest of the time she was fine though. Then about a week before classes ended first semester she had a total meltdown about how she had no privacy, couldn't live with that many people, hated our dorm, etc. She hated the fact that we kept the door open most of the time (she didn't like to be social). We had to rearrange all the furniture in the room the very next day (a Friday, a week before the end of the semester...some of us had a LOT of work to do), to get her bed away from the door. That very night she went out drinking and came back at 3 am. When she tried climbing onto her bed (the bed above mine), I woke up because she was so drunk that the bed was rocking like a boat out in the middle of a hurricane. That Monday she had a meeting with housing and arranged to move to another dorm. We hardly see her now, so pretty much she was fine, then out of the blue dumped us.
Roommate # 2. Total slob from the start, although got worse as time went on. Complained endlessly about the amount of debt she was in to go to school, yet spent constantly on stuff that technically she didn't need. Felt it was necessary to go after every boy on the floor, and went after multiple guys at a time, all while still "dating" a kid at a school about an hour from here. He found out and she LIED to him about what was going on. Thankfully he dumped her, but the drama stressed all of us out. About that time she started partying just about every night, but actually stopped sleeping in our room for a month to sleep in the guys' room (the two guys she was going after were roommates). Then the guy she really wanted pulled the same thing she'd pulled on another guy a month before, and she wound up back in our room with three weeks left in the semester. From then on she went out every night, but didn't really bother us. She was still loud and pushy and annoying, but nothing terrible. The day we came back from winter break started the major downhill trend. First, she came back with a roomful of stuff, and partied every night that week, waking us up in the middle of the night when she came stumbling in drunk. Finally we were able to get the lounge broken down and she moved to another building where partying was more acceptable. (I live in the honors dorm). Oh did I mention it took 4 (yeah FOUR) carloads to move all her crap across campus?
Roommate # 3. She's my only roommate now. Don't really have a problem with her. SHe studies hard, and a lot, but she's wicked nice, and very respectful. We've had no problems at all this year, and have definitely become friends.

ahhh, these stories make me so excited for this fall :)
hope i get chill roommates...

My roommate rules. I wouldn't necessarily say he's my best friend at the school, but he's definitely the best roommate I could ask for. We're both neat freaks, so our room is spotless; his girlfriend is awesome and she usually stays over every other night or so (she even does my laundry sometimes :). Plus they've never done anything when I've been in the room/he's never sexiled me so that's why I give him huge props  )
We both never study, drink too much, pull in too many women (except now he has a girlfriend) and talk sports 24/7. It's like living with another version of myself.
I kind of feel bad for you guys with bad roommates, usually the colleges do a great job pairing people up. My roomie and I are living together next year with 6 other guys and the other guys are cool as hell, too; so I assume this'll just get better.

as firewalker said....all this talk about roommates is getting me so damn excited.

ecliptica......does your ID refer to the Sonata Arctica album of the same name?

It does! In the year and a half that I've been posting here no one else has heard of/realized what it meant.
I've been using this name on message boards since like 2001, when I was a freshman in high school

EDIT: I should've mentioned that both my roommate and I are on the same sports team, so I'm not sure if the college paired us up or the coach paired us up.

Damn I'm glad sharing rooms is unheard of in these parts.

We get poky, overpriced single bedrooms but your own private space is priceless. We share a living room of course, but my flatmates are animals so the place more often looks like a squat.

All part of good student living ;)

im a huge metalhead......and i remember seeing your ID from a while back, but never caught your recent posts...till now

i actually have 2 Sonata Arctica shirts...

one is Winterheart's Guild and the other is Ecliptica, but i wear my Ecliptica shirt because the album art is way cooler, IMO
