What it takes and what do you think got you into Harvard?

GoCollege: I'd say yes - particularly if that work experience relates to a subject you show great interest in (so in my case, working as a stage technician and my interest in performing arts).

^ I guess it depends on what you're used to. I do theatre technical work, and as a result spend a lot of time rigging, being a scaff monkey, lifting, cleaning, etc. I probably wouldn't "enjoy" the work I'd do for Dorm Crew, but it wouldn't be particularly hard going for me. But if you're used to less demanding work, you'd probably find it quite difficult work.

Which Pre-Orientation Program do you suggest, because I do plan on doing one.

What do you guys think about the fact that Dorm Crew pays 500 dollars, and the other programs cost 500 dollars? Is there any socio-economic distinction between the kids who choose Dorm Crew and those who choose the other programs? I would hate for anything like that to exist. Personally, I would do the outdoor action program, simply because it's something I've never tried before. I've done stuff similar to urban action, so it's not as appealing. As for Dorm Crew, cleaning toilets is not my idea of getting introduced to Harvard.

If I worked in a bank and want to do business is that type of stuff valid?

The thing is I only saw stuff and I worked there for one week.

What if I have a small business (not legally registered.. but ok since it is very small and I am under 18) but it gives me some money.. something I created and is going nicelly?

I don't have personal experience with the other programs. FOP seems to be popular.

Somewhat of a hidden cost of Dorm Crew is that it doesn't include food and you don't get a kitchen or anything. It hurts to blow a few hours' worth of work on the Wrap. (NB: AVOID THE WRAP. Go to Felipe's, which didn't exist when I did dorm crew, instead. This is the best Harvard advice anyone could give you. You're welcome.)

You have to show them that you are special; something that I'm not quite sure I was successful in doing. You have to show that you are someone who takes initiative and makes most of the environment he or she is placed in. This is harder than it sounds, especially if you didn't make the most of your environment.

I see what you mean...
