IMO it depends if I need that class for my major or to transfer... I rather have teachers that focus on helping students understand the material and are not focused on the grading system.

My math teacher last semester was the best damn teacher I've ever had. She was not obsessed with grades, in fact she could care less about grades as long as you knew the material. I heard she even helped a girl ace her final (she was the last one taking it) just because that girl had put 110% effort in that class and still didn't understand the material. She got a good grade though for her effort and she finished that class understanding the material very well even though she got help in the final... she didn't fall for the whole grade "business", she actually helped that girl grasp the material.

However, if you don't put any effort into the class and could careless about it, of course she'd do the same to you.

I would opt for choice #2 for the simple reason that I want to be challenged. Also, getting an A in a class that is known to be extremely difficult is such a good boost for yourself since you know that you can achieve a great many things. Of course, you may be able to achieve great things if you took the easy way out, but hey, we're all different.

"1.) A professor who gives an easy A, but you learn very little/nothing in the class."

I rather spend my time building up a business. I can certainly read all about businesses in a book but when it comes time to apply those theories. What do you know, the theories don't work with certain types of variables that the book does not mention. Down with school, Thumbs up with experience. Although, I don't advocate dropping out unless you have built a million dollar business. So up with degrees because it gets a job but down with school!

I rather have a professor that fosters intellectual creativity and stimulates innovation and the creative process. You can study for a test. But the real test lies outside of the classroom. A professor that gives students the ultimate test of life is in my eyes, the professor that truly cares about his or her students and that is the best kind of professor in this world.

I would choose the easy A for the reason that it helps secure transfer chances.... becuase when an adcom looks at your transcript and he/she see's two applicants one who got an A in calc and one who got a B, they really dont give a crap about what teacher you took or how much it "challenged" you. ive been in both situations and they both have their benefits.... i think a good professor doesnt have to necessarily teach you the material make it hard but simply attempt to put the material in the a real world perspective and supply you with the tools that will help you succeed in the future...
and plus its lower division and i'd agree with Laguna
