Thanks for the feedback!

Admission to Vandy is all about your standardized test scores. At this juncture with a 31, Vandy is a reach for you. If you improve to 33/34, then the rest of your profile looks good, especially if you apply ED.

yeah im hoping i can bring my score up a few points after i study a bit, i had no time to in april!

Vanderbilt is a reach school for most applicants now purely based on the 28 thousand applicants for 1600ish slots. The all freshman campus makes the size of the class very certain re numbers that can be accommodated.
best of luck in all your efforts…apply to some of the fine schools that will be your match schools and attach to your match colleges and all will be well. Reach colleges should be surprise admissions…

muckdogs07 is completely wrong. Admissions to Vanderbilt are holistic (we may put slightly more emphasis on test scores than peer schools, but accepted students are still very multidimensional); Vanderbilt’s lack of supplemental essay questions in its application has served as a means to criticize it unjustly.

That said, in your case, test scores ARE indeed what you should concentrate on. But this is not because Vanderbilt will only accept you if your test scores are at a certain level, but rather, because your test scores are the weakest aspect of your profile. You would receive the same advice were you asking for your chances at a number of other top schools. Best of luck!

How much help is being a URM? Specifically native american? With good scores (35 act) but not the best extra-curriculars?

Very helpful. Possibly less helpful at Vandy than other top schools bust still very helpful.
