What Language Should I Take?

No, doctors shouldn’t necessarily have an understanding of Latin. Doctors should be able to communicate with their patients, and they should be able to understand that the drugs they prescribe can have unintended consequences. Finally, they should understand that surgeries are not always the answer, even when they are clearly more profitable. I don’t think Latin courses teach any of that.

Obviously a language class isn’t going to teach you how to practice medicine, that’s what Med school is for - your point is that Latin is useless because it doesn’t teach you how to deal with patients? </p>

<p>I second the Spanish reccommendation. French won’t be that useful in the USA, whereas Spanish is more common. It’s easier to learn than Arabic/Mandarin since you have a background with French.</p>

<p>Does Spanish teach all of those things, because if it does, I’d rather have a doctor that can speak Spanish than one that went to med school.</p>
