<p>My guess is they do see this through your apps. Of the 2 dozen or so kids I know pretty well at Harvard right now, not a single one is a stuck up jerk. They are all pretty cool, down to earth normal kids who occasionally party too much and study too little.</p>

<p>Yeah, i have a friend there and he said there are a couple of the stuck-up jerks but they pretty much meet eachother the first month of school and refuse to associate with people who they deem under them. He said most people there are just normal kids who happen to be incredibely smart. That's what i love about harvard. Just because they're smarter, doesn't mean that they're that much more mature.</p>

<p>Maybe optimism is a defense mechanism...but I'd still prefer it to pessimism.</p>

<p>Still, you can't judge people solely by what they say on forums. They could be really different in person.</p>
