What major helps start business in building design and construction?

If people eager to start their own business in the future,

which major should they choose to help them achieve that goal, Architecture, Structual Engineering or Civil Engineering?

or let's put it in this way: What is the common path for people to start their own business in building design and construction?

Marry into a family that already does that. The guy who built my house was a pharmacist who inherited his wife’s father’s custom home business. He did not know what end of the hammer to hold but was an excellent project manager and had top quality subontractors and suppliers. So, there’s an idea for you :)

Seriously tho, there is a field called Construction Management which is not quite architecture, civil engineering, or structural engineering, but is more for the management and business side of construction. I know Purdue has one, but it’s not as common a major as one would think.

If you want to own a construction business you’d want to know construction. Civil engineering won’t teach you construction. Perhaps consider a 2 year business degree and learn about construction.
