what major

This doesn't fit the forum but I couldn't find one that did.
I'm going to be a college freshman this September of 2014 and I have barely any idea what I want to major in.
I'm not terrible at any subject, and I enjoy almost every subject. I kind of want to learn everything. Over the past year or so I've considered majors in political science, environmental science, biology, mathematics, economics, and probably even more. I'm attending a university that requires a decent amount of general education requirements, but I have taken a lot of AP classes (8) and around 4 college classes that cover a majority of those gen-ed classes. I have to make my schedule fairly soon and I really have no idea what to do or how to decide what I want to major in. I like writing, science, history, math, english, etc. I also don't want to choose my major depending on the expected salary but it is obviously playing a role. How much should future earnings impact major choice? If i still don't know what to major in by the time I pick my classes what classes should I choose to take? Anything you could offer would be appreciated, thanks so much.

Normally you don’t have to declare a major until the end of your sophomore year. Why don’t you take some classes and see what you like. Your school will almost certainly have departments in things you haven’t even thought about. Some schools also allow you to create your own major. There are lots of options and you don’t need to decide anything now.

You seem to think that a college degree is a lockstep process where almost all of your classes are determined by your choice of major. This is kinda true for engineering majors, but for just about everything else many if not most of your classes are not part of your major. At one UC, to give one example, if you look at every required class for the econ major it is just 90 units out of the 180 needed to earn a degree.

So there is no rush to pick a major or to take classes in that major.
