What makes GWU worth the price?

Don't get me wrong, I think that GW is a good school for many majors. Being in Washington DC is also a plus. HOWEVER. it is the most expensive school in the nation as shown in the Chronicle of Higher Education. It is more expensive than NYU, BU,TUFTS, any ivy school, MIT, Stanford, and any liberal arts college such as Haverford, Amhearst etc., and a lot more than the tuition for any state schools such as Berkeley or UCLA even for out of state folks. Thus, what is the draw that warrants this price UNLESS you get a large merit scholarship?

is GWU generous in givning scholarships and aids?

Amazing Internships

Many students have internships at the World Bank, IMF, Capitol Hill, Goldman Sachs, CNN, etc. When you're applying for grad school or a job and there are 2,000 people with a 4.0 it will probably help you quite a bit.

Fantastic location

The monuments and pretty much every restaurant and store imaginable is within walking distance. Plus there is a Metro stop on-campus.

Housing

Arguably the best in the country. GW's worst dorm is better than most schools' best dorm. Most rooms are huge, carpeted, air-conditioned, and feature a fridge, microwave, and private bathroom. Some even have a kitchen. And again, the great location of the dorms.

Top Programs/Facilities

Highly-ranked programs in many areas, especially International Affairs. A lot of the academic buildings are fantastic/new, such as the business school.

You can get decent financial aid if you're poor. Personally, I think we offer a better environment than some of those really sheltered LACs in the middle of nowhere. Our classes are rigorous and there is not a lot of bullsh**ting in most departments. The internships available are unmatched. In addition, it is not hard to earn money in DC... CNN ranked it the #1 best place for jobs, I believe. I have had no trouble earning high wages (i earned like $14/hr my first year at gw). Some of my friends even worked full-time their senior year to make $$$ -- GW offers lots of night classes, so I've had no problems scheduling work around my classes.
