Obviously MIT is the best engineering school and one of the best in natural sciences, but what exactly makes someone a good “fit” for this school? To current and graduated students, how is the faculty and research opportunities?

Overall, I’d say very good, although there were a few faculty/classes in which I was not a big fan of. However most of the faculty here are super intelligent and also really outgoing.
In terms of research opportunities, that depends on the department, but if you’re course 2 or 6 or 18 or whatever, there are generally quite a few UROP positions out there.
