What makes you stand out to colleges?

I go to a really good school… but other than that, not much :P

@lullies
You definitely have the most interesting activity. It makes you who you are. That is pretty good, and I’m serious.

Me? I get good grades and I am smart.

Seriously though, I founded the UNICEF Club at our school and organized quite a few fundraising activities (some were not even part of UNICEF intl.).

@firered756 That’s awesome, good for you.

@NerdyAsianKid

You have some very unique EC’s. Congrats on your multiple Carnegie Hall performances. I am jealous. I’ve only performed there once.

@Rain202 and NerdyAsianKid
I would die (okay, not die) to be able to play in Carnegie Hall. And me? I’m not particularly smart or talented, just a hard worker with mediocre achievements. To me, you two seem outstanding enough.

As of now, im an URM and thats it sadly but hopefully that changes in the next couple months

I traveled to North Korea and wrote my Common App essay about it. (100% serious.)

There are other things but I’m pretty sure that’s the most unique thing I have going for me right now.

^^ North Korea, wowza!

As for me, I have the ability to play DI tennis, but I am choosing not to be play because I would not be able to play at the best business schools in the country (Penn, UVA, Michigan). I am the captain of my high school team as a junior, I will be captain next year as well. I was all-state and all conference freshman year, and all-conference soph year. I’ve reached a high ranking of 30 in my region and I’ve won many tournaments throughout my career. I spend at least 12 hrs a week practicing and I’ve played tons and tons of tournaments since I’ve been 10. I volunteer by helping underprivileged kids play tennis and I have helped organize a charity tennis tournament that raised 10,000$ last year, and next year I will be co-tournament director. My guidance counselor who loves me is also the tennis team coach and has a ton of connections with admissions officers.

…and this is how I plan to get into Penn.
