I am currently majoring in Chemical Engineering and looking to go into Financial Engineering at some point after I graduate. I am required to take only up to Diff Eqs, as well as one math elective, which I think will be Linear Algebra. What other math classes should I think about taking? Also is there any benefit of picking up a math minor because I will be pretty close if I decide to do a "pre-FE" track?

Thanks

I think you could greatly benefit from a probability class as well as a healthy dose of statistics, and possibly combinatorics. Based on my research (I was at one point looking into this), programming ability is put at a premium as well. I would look into some computer science classes, most notably data structures and algorithms.

Statistics, yes, but by gum take some economics classes. To heck with that, study econ on your own, read the economists’ blogs. Too many people in finance don’t understand economics.
