I'm taking five AP classes the year and plan to take the AP test for each of them in May. I'd like to know which review books people who have taken the test recommend the most.
The AP classes I am taking are:
AP English Lang.
AP European History
AP Chemistry
AP Human Geography
AP Spanish Lit.

Barron’s. Studied 2-3 days before my Psychology exam, finished the whole book, and got a 5.
Studied about 4 days before US History and got a 4.

Chem- PR, but it’s not great. Watch Bozeman science and khan academy videos. Also, make sure you get newer editions of books, the test was redesigned.

Lang- Cliffsnotes is ok, but there’s not really much to study.

Don’t bother getting one for lang, I did and after looking at the first few pages, I put it down. I didn’t even use the practice tests and got a 4. imo it’s a you know it or you don’t test.
I’ve always liked PR for everything because the language is simplified and has a laid back feel, but has a lot of information. However, most people who aim for 5’s use Barrons because its so dense.

@206377 The AP Lang book was only useful for practicing MC. I used Barrons for that. Didn’t read anything other than practice tests. Best to just use the CC’s old tests and not waste money on the book.

For chem, I used the 5 steps to a 5 book, and found it extremely helpful. At the beginning of the year, I doubted I’d pass the test… The book made it super easy to cram during the few weeks before the test, and condensed the huge textbook into just a few pages per section… Short, sweet, and to the point.

I’ve found that Barrons and 5 Steps to a 5 are some of the best books I’ve ever used for review. I’ve used Barrons for Comp Sci and APUSH. Didn’t really read through either very intensely, but they were very informative, yet easy to read through.

you know what, i find 5 step really good. i used 5 step for euro and the other 6 aps i took exams on. I self studied 2 exams (looked over the prep book a week before the exam and didnt cram) and i got a 4 and 5 on those exams, which were ES and World History btw. 5 step is good because what you need is enough knowledge to take the exam. The real fun is in the class.

summary:
5 step is right to the point
same price or cheaper than other brands
text friendly and organized
shorter and compact thus making it easy to read and carry around

I’ve tried barons and i got to chapter 3 on ap euro and i just gaveup and read 5 step in 2 days. 5 step and of course classes and studying got me four 5s and 3 fours. for my aps this year as a seniors, ill be buying 6 prep books lol and im leaning towards 5 step or the crash course ones

AP Euro- Princeton Review (Score: 5)
APUSH- REA’s Crash Course (Don’t listen to any other advice this covers all you need and is eerily similar to the test)
AP Human Geo- Princeton Review (Score:5)
Spanish Lang- Are you a native speaker?
