What rmy chances for acceptance into Le Rosy?

Le Rosey is one of the worlds best boarding school so I wouldn't exactly call it no-name.

Senay, where are you getting this? My current school (which also boards) has better college matriculations that Le Rosey and, as I said, my school is NOT a good school, much less one of the best boarding schools in the world!

And pardon me for not knowing about this obscure New York school that happens to have SSAT prep classes, it's hardly relevant considering CollectiveChick lives in Washington

CollectiveChick, don't let these people's rash, and vaugly malicious remarks discourage you from gaining acceptance to your dreamschool. IF people had read what you were saying they would have relized that you did mention you went to a CATHOLIC PRIVATE SCHOOL which administer's the SSAT exam. also if people took time to actually stop dwelling on your gramatic, and spelling error, this thread wouldn't have had to go past a few posts of helpful information...people can, and will make mistakes on this forum..jeez.

but I guess to my understanding the SSAT exams are irrelivant because i do not think that Le Rosey requires the SSAT as an admission's requirment...i could always be wrong but this is knowledge i gained from the SSAT's list of schools, which Le Rosey wasn't on. Also Le Rosey's website which does not list the SSAT as one of thier requirement's. I'll include the link, and as senay said, as they do administer there own test that doesn't mean you have to go all the way the Switzerland to write it, im sure they take special circumstances into account and send it to your school, but you will never know unless you ask them directly..

For the scholarship, I did a lot of searching to no avail...but i did gather that they have a four person commitee to decide the people who recieve scholarships, and they designate a large ammount of money to scholarships.
The best thing for you to do is contact Le Rosey directly, instead of asking people who quite honeslty have a very vauge understanding of the school (myself included).
On a final note Le Rosey is NOT on of the best school's in the world. Exlusive? Absolutely, they pride themselves on being a blue blooded school with a long list of royals. Expensive? Hell yes, its the most expensive boarding school in the world apparently. Finally just because a school does not have a list of Ivy league acceptee's doesnt mean a thing, ivy league schools are not the only good university's. Le Rosey can get you hook-ups, as in you rubbing elbows with the worlds elite.
The best of luck on gaining acceptance! tell us how it goes...
if your interested in taking my advice and contacting them, heres the link:

Good Luck!

LangdonCarson,

Well, aren't you just the spokesman. Just because it's a private school doesn't mean it administers the SSAT! And yes, apparently it isn't an application requirement anyway.

And yes, you're right. People on this forum are allowed to make mistakes. You proved that. It's funny that with a spellcheck you still can't seem to spell "vague"

CollectiveChick, if indeed you are legitimate, don't be discouraged from applying if it is what you really want for yourself. Just realize that there are far better options closer to home that are also far more likely to offer you substantial financial aid. Sure, you might not "rub elbows" with quite as much "royalty" but you'd have a much higher chance of actually going.

Ok, first of all, the school in NY that apparently has boarding school counseling and SSAT administration probably ends after 8th grade, therefore, EVERYBODY in the the grade would be leaving the school, and most probably look into boarding school (it's not unlikely and I know of a couple schools that do end in 8th or 9th grade)

Also, from the Le Rosey website:
"So as to preserve its international character and linguistic mix Le Rosey operates a nationality quota system: no more than 10% of students from one country or group of countries with the same dominant language are admitted."

This will probably make it a lot harder to get in (sorry, but its true)

Another excerpt from the site:
"the admissions examination will be sent to your current school and the interview will take place if possible at the home of a former student in your locality."

so you do not have to travel all the way to switzerland to take the test or have an interview.

The college list (of the past 7 years) is pretty good but, as mentioned before, does not include every ivy league, so you definitely DO NOT have a free ticket into any one of your choice (sorry)

It looks like a fine school, definitely suits its purpose, but it isn't diverse in it's range of activities (music, sports) and is very set on life style, diversity of people, ect...

if thats what your looking for though, go for it!

ahahah well Tom i do try my best....
it really comforts me to know that every mistake i make, i'll have YOU to correct me...sure it may be a daunting task to some..but to you, i bet you, stared that spelling error right down and you HAD to do something about it! nice! keep up the awsome work!
and by the way royalty WAS pushing it a bit....but do a bit of research and find out what type of kids go to that school..
P.S i probably made a few spelling errors, be a good boy and find them ;).

the spell checker is for chumps, i like to live life on the fast lane......oh wait...living life on the fast lane is what is making me make these horrible, unforgivable error's...i may have to reconsider my priorities in life..

errors**
i'm sorry! i couldn't help myself. & yes, i barely ever use capitals, so I'm one to talk, ahaha.
& it's totally normal to make grammatical mistakes (I know you're being sarcastic, but still)! it's just.. hard sometimes to resist correcting others, you know? or maybe that's just me. heehee!

by the way, if you search Le Rosey on yahoo answers, there's a question that comes up, and several people said that le Rosey was more for socializing, not for academics. I have no idea if that's true, but tbh, i think it'd be better to go to a north american school that you know a little bit. but then again, that's just me! we respect whatever you decide to do. :)

oh snap! dive, honestly thanks for correcting that one, quite honeslty that was a really stupid mistake, that's a mistake that NEEDED correcting..

my bad i pressed post earlier than i wanted...anyways, its only human nature to correct people when they are wrong, unless your passive....but it's the way you go about it...
for example there is a huge difference in the way you handled my mistake which was with good humor, and the way people on this site seem to be fond of doing...which at times is malicious, and vicious, borderlining sad..but once again thanks for that correction, im pretty embarassed right now..

^
Yep, that's me, malicious, vicious, and borderlining sad. Sorry I hurt your fragile feelings. Why don't you go tell mommy. And I do know what kind of kids go to that school. Look up my current school - TASIS The American School in Switzerland.

CollectiveChick, take it from me. There are better places to go than Swiss boarding schools. Go stateside like I'm trying to do

i was talking to this le rosey student and she said that they are starting to actually care about grades this year so it's harder to gain admittance. i think they've finally changed. scholarships are only offered to people that are younger than 14.

Lol...

you know your sad when you make snide remarks on a friggin forum for christ sakes come on...get a life your the guy who spends his time looking for spelling errors so he can make a snide remark..it takes a pretty keen eye to notice a misplaced "U" in "vague", or your probably one of those quite library kids who takes his anger against the world, out on horrible spellers on CC, or you just have a lot of time on your hands.Lol are you the kid who get all redfaced, when the kids in your class make grammatical errors? i'll bet you are.
and yes i am VERY sensitive, my feelings are VERY fragile so please, please do try and be considerate with them...i was this close- -, to telling mother about "that mean TomTheCat bully on CC", but i didnt because im scared of the reprecussions, you might just start insulting something else I do that is of little importance instead of focusing on the topic.
i'm already familiar with TASIS, what do you wankt me to accomplish by searching it? my friend goes to Leysin american school so let's all give him a round of applause..
not everybody wants to go "stateside" like you....so stop asserting your views. Im not trying to sound like a "spokesman" im just saying, let the girl do research and figure out what she wants to do herself.

lets be friends everyone

I'm not sure I really want to be friends

This guy is painting me as the quiet guy who one day comes into school with a semi-automatic assault rifle and fires round after round into his teachers and classmates, and I'm not taking that. That is NOT funny. If you wanted to insult me you could have just made some sarcastic remark but I guess that's not how things hang with you, you have to turn someone into a freak before you've had your fill. I started it, but you sure as anything finished it.

I'm done with you, and I'm done with this thread.

woah woah SLOW DOWN...i absolutely did not make even the slightest implication that you were unstable...read my posts VERY carefully..the fact that you gatherd that is slightly disturbing...i assumed you had a sense of humor, you started a funny and interesting thread, that i finished reading before this fiasco started. All i said was that you picked on people's grammtic and spelling errors, how you made such an absurd assumption is beyond me, but im sure you know what they say about assumptions...
To be fair you were snide, but at the same time upon reflection i will admit i took it a bit too far..and for that i aplogize if you happen to read this, but just know i did not intend for my posts to imply ANYTHING of the matter you mentioned above..no need for the drama..so on a final note i hope there are no hard feelings.
I sincerely am sorry Tom.

Thanks. I'm sorry too.

loll wow cc drama

Bet you never thought CC could get this dramatic, Senay ;-)

Thankyou LangdonCarson,
You have been the greatest help yet.
