What should I do for Fall 2012?

I am currently a sophomore in community college (Santa Monica College) and have been accepted to USC for the Fall 2012 semester. I have completed 62 units (I am still considered a sophomore at USC) and as many of you know, USC will only accept 64 transferrable units. In the past few months I have also decided that I want to pursue dentristy as an occupation which poses an issue because I have not yet begun the slew of pre dentristry courses. My main issue lies in these next few scenarios:

I go to USC in the Fall 2012 semester and continue there, taking my chemistry and biology pre requistes for dentistry school and then completing USC in 2 1/2 years, then returning to community college for a semester while completing my physics courses in a semester.

I defer USC until the Spring 2012 semester and continue at community college, only taking 8 units (A Chemistry and a Biology course) in the Fall 2012 semester. None of those units will be counted towards my Unit count, but I will get dentistry pre requisite credit (so it counts for th epre reqs at dental school). I would complete all my physics at USC this way, knocking out a biology and chemistry at SMC, but only taking 8 units which would not count towards my unit count.

I am confused as to which scenario I should follow. If anyone could help it'd be GREATLY appreciated.

Go to USC right away. You may change your career goals in the meantime and even if not, the CC route will always be there. Get into your upper div classes at the world class uni asap and use CC later if needed.

Annika, Why do you say that is the better route?

Since as you describe it so far it is a toss up in terms of pros and cons for the two routes and nothing big that makes one an obvious choice, I suggest moving forward to USC immediately and gain as much experience at USC and start mentor relationships at USC right away. Then if needed, take any leftover pre-reqs for dental school later. That last bit would happen after you have applied to grad/prof school and having more semesters of USC under your belt is a better advatage.
