What should I do if I'm accepted but unable to pay?

Hello everyone! I'm an international student. I got accepted to Villanova but the Financial Aid Office failed to offer me financial aid. Without financial aid, my family is unable to pay the tuitions. Villanova is a great school and I really really want to go there. Is there anything I can do or that's it for me? Should I write an e-mail to ask the office to reconsider my application? What should I do?
Thanks!

You can always ask, but Villanova has limited financial aid available for international students, and they’re not known for great financial aid anyway. I’d have a good backup plan in mind.

You should also consider a financial safety.

*First-year undergraduate international students are eligible to be considered for limited need-based aid, merit based scholarships, and athletic scholarships. Students may also apply for loans and participate in the University’s tuition payment plan. For more information, please visit the Financial Assistance website.

It looks like Villanova only offers limited aid to int’ls. Are your stats very high for the school?

How much can your parents contribute?

Thanks for all replies!
My stats for Villanova are not that great: SAT I: 2080, GPA: 4.1, SAT II Math I: 790 + US History: 590, Toefl iBT: 102. My parents are able to contribute about $35,000/year while the total fee is approximately $53,000. It seems to me that Villanova is not going to cover the $18,000 gap but I’ll still ask anyway. Their decision really gives me a hard time. Thanks again for helping!

@chaospaladin: Can I ask you what is a financial safety?

Financial safety is a school where you are guaranteed enough financial aid money or a school that is very cheap where you really wouldn’t need financial aid or a school where your parents have enough money to pay out of pocket.

Your family has determined that the “gap” is $35k, but it’s very possible that Nova doesn’t think you have a gap at all. They may think that your family can afford to pay all costs.

You will not likely get the money to go to Nova since they only give limited aid to int’lls…likely only to those with really high stats.

You need to quickly apply to some safety schools that will only cost $35k.
