What should I know before majoring in Biochemistry? (PLEASE, I NEED HELP)

I’m a really hardworking student and want to arrive college knowing all I’m supposed to know regarding my major’s most important topics. As I am an international student, I wanna know which topics in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Math are indispensable to do it well in my freshman year of college.

Thank you very much for your help!!

Well, that kind of defeats the purpose of going to college and taking the courses, right? If you knew everything that you needed to know then you wouldn’t need to take the coursework.

I just wanna be prepared. Of course that I won’t know everything before even taking the course, but I wanna succeed in it!

I’m a bit unclear on what kind of information you’re seeking, then - can you be more specific? Do you want to know what fundamentals of biology or chemistry you need to already know as an entering freshman to do well in the class? That will enable people to help you better.

(FWIW, I think you are worrying unnecessarily about this - most undergrads start off their new majors pretty fresh and without a lot of outside knowledge. But I suppose I understand the impulse.)

You are right, after re-reading it I found it unclear too.

Yes, I want to know what fundamentals of biology or chemistry I need to already know as an entering freshman to do well in my courses.

Your opinion is very valuable for me. I am kind of worried because in my country I took courses related to business, and now I’ve changed my mind and would like to major in a completely different area. Because of that, I am trying to meet the minimum requirements to understand my classes on my first year of college.

Thank you for your response!

Hello, First: Do not try to put a square peg into a round hole. Go with your aptitude(s). You will have less stress and
gain more benefit from your education.
Proverb curse: " May you get what you wish for"

Dirty Harry:" A man’s gotta know his limitations"
Second: Good study habits will overcome a lot of obstacles and deficits.
Third: Read the text before the class. Not the whole text. The text relevant to the day’s / week’s lecture.
Forth: Get help early with tutors if needed. Most programs offer this service as needed.
Fifth: If still concerned, study for the SAT “subject” texts on the topics of your concern.
